St. Patrick’s Day is on 17th March and is a public holiday in Ireland which celebrates Irish customs and tradition. St. Patrick was the Patron Saint of Ireland who was recognized for bringing Christianity to Ireland. This day became an official Feast Day in early seventeenth century. To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day there are public parades and festivals, people wear Green and Shamrocks and consume Irish Beer and Whiskey. The first St. Patrick’s Day Festival was held on 17th March 1996, in 1997 it became a three day event and by 2004 a four day event. The event includes concerts, outdoor theatre and fireworks.
