World Book Day is on 5th March and is a very exciting time. It encourages a love of books and stories and reading for pleasure, the advantages are endless. Schools always embrace this day with activities and children wear Fancy Dress Costumes dressed up as their favourite book characters. We have lots of ideas for Fancy Dress and would love to know if your children are dressing up this year and which Costume they will be wearing.
World Book Day is on 5th March and celebrates all things and reading. This day kicks off which is usually a week spent in Schools encouraging the love of books and reading for pleasure. This also then helps literacy skills and imagination. Introducing some classic characters such as Oliver and Alice in Wonderland is a good start as children often like book related characters. Events take place in nurseries, primary and secondary schools as well as libraries and bookshops. Activities often include book swaps, sponsored reads, writing stories and plays, making magazines and comics and art related activities such as making book marks. Many authors and illustrators visit schools and £1.00 book tokens are handed out to children to put toward buying a book.
The most exciting part of Book week is that children get to dress up in Fancy Dress as book characters. This is always a fun time and a day out of school uniform! We have loads of book related costumes to choose from, suitable for all tastes and Boys and Girls. For younger children Dangermouse, Snow White and Mermaid are firm favourites. We also have a new range of Horrible Histories and Roald Dahl Costumes to choose from which are proving very popular. These include a Knight and Monk Costume, Boudica and Georgian Girl as well as BFG, Fantastic Mr. Fox and Willy Wonka.
We have various delivery services including a next day option for any last minute costume panics.
