Eurovision Song Contest Party

The Eurovision Song Contest takes place this weekend on 23^rd May. Playing host to this years contest is Vienna, the capital of Austria and the venue is the Weiner Stadhale. This is the second time that the City has hosted the competition. The first Eurovision Contest is 24^th May 1956 in Lugano in Switzerland and this year is the 60^th anniversary.  To mark this event there was a Eurovision Song Contest’s Greatest Hits show in London. The Eurovision Song Contest is a great tradition where stars such as Abba, Celine Dion, Cliff Richard and Lulu have performed. Ireland has won the competition seven times while Luxembourg, France, Sweden and The UK have won five times.  This year Electric Velvet will represent the UK with their song “Still in love with you”. It was also announced yesterday that Nigella Lawson will be reading out this years results.

It is always customary to watch the Eurovision Song Contest with friends and to make a night of it.
