It will soon be Childrens Book Week which takes place in the summer term. This helps to promote the love of books and reading for children. Many activities take place during Book Week, a favourite being dressing up as book characters. There are many Book Week Fancy Dress Costumes to choose from as well as accessories to add to Book Week Outfits. We would love to know which book character is your childs favourite.

Childrens Book Week takes place in the summer term and celebrates reading for pleasure. Book Week was established in 1919 and encourages the love of reading. There are so many benefits to reading. As well as improving literacy skills, children get to love well known classic characters such as Bugsy Malone and Snow Whiteit increases their imagination and has social skills being able to discuss their much loved stories. Many events are held in schools, libraries and bookshops which include visits from authors and illustrators, reading games, book swaps and sponsored reads among many more. One of the most popular activities for pupils and teachers during Book Week is dressing up. Wearing Fancy Dress Costumes and becoming their favourite book character is always great fun and very much looked forward to.

There are so many book characters to choose from and we have loads of book week costume ideas whether your child wants to be Robin Hood, Spongebob, Oliver Twist or Gabriella from High School Musical. The right accessories are also a key part of Book Week outfits. An eyepatch and a hook help to make the perfrct pirate and a charleston headband is ideal to create a look from The Great Gatsby. Any event that creates a buzz about books  and reading is a good thing and we understand how children set their hearts on being a particular character and can then change their minds!
